Blades of grass dance in the wind as it shifts at the whim of some invisible hand. They wiggle and wriggle their butts and tickle the body of an odd little creature lying on its side listening to the world as it passes by. This creature, with its beady little eyes and stick-like arms is the Sock-Monster. The Sock-Monster loves to drink fresh water from the nearby river, and soak up the sun's friendly rays. The Sock-Monster also enjoys spending time with friends. But there are fears in the little Sock-Monster's heart, where did its favorite tree go? Where did many of the animals it used to regularly see go? Why is it more difficult to see the stars now? Why does the air smell a little less sweet? Is it too late to bring the world the Sock-Monster once knew and loved back?

Sock-Monster is a one-panel comic drawn by Neil Brideau. It updates every other day. This site also features lots of extra material to encourage a further waste of your time. You can search the Sock-Monster archives by keyword through OhNoRobot.com. The "Stuff For You" section contains lots of free stuff (both tangible and intangible), as well as means for you to use your hard-earned money to encourage my misguided artistic endeavors. Now's the part in which I talk in the third person.

Raised and educated in western and central New York state, Neil Brideau draws, tells stories and sings songs at the top of his lungs in Chicago, Il. He enjoys riding his bike, playing 4square, reading comics, making vegan food, and listening to community and public radio.

Neil is co-editor of the webcomic project, Tangent Pageant.
Other comics he's drawn can be read at From the Well.
